Medicaid Income Pension Trusts also known as MIPT accounts can be needed for some clients. It is best practice to have the facility complete these as the trustee. In some instances, APS has had to be the trustee, but this is not common practice. Once added to these accounts APS cannot be removed without a new account opened and a new trustee appointed.
When looking for placement, ask the facility if they will arrange and manage MIPT accounts before placing client.
